Building A Brand – Part 2
A big part of building your brand is consistency. If there are things that you do well, and you know your customers enjoy, then you had better provide those things for your customers the next time they visit your restaurant. It doesn’t necessarily matter what part of the experience the customer most enjoyed, if they liked that well enough to come back, they will be very disappointed if they don’t get it the second (or third) time they return. Running a successful restaurant depends on your ability to get customers returning time and again, so if they do come back, you need to do whatever it takes to make sure they continue to do so.
This goes back to knowing what you do well. If you don’t know, you better figure it out quickly. If you have developed the recioes for your menu, and you are happy with the quality of the food, stick with it. The worst thing you can do is to change your recipes every time you come across a customer that isn’t completely satisfied with your interpretation of a dish. You will never make everyone happy, and you will lose the customers that did like your previous version. If they come back for a particular menu item, and it is different than what they expect, they won’t be satisfied, and they may not give you another chance to make it right.
Running a successful restaurant requires consistency. People need to know what to expect. Building a brand means that people know what your name means, and what their experience will be like before they walk through the door. If you can deliver that, your customer base will continue to grow, and your success will be assured.
